An exploration of my time spent working on a Fine Art degree The purpose of this work is to show the diversity of modern day populations in the United Kingdom and how society has defined what we think of race and our relationship with prejudice and skin colour. Using portraiture as my medium I explore the idea modern trope that it is the colour of our skin that defines who we are. Using a Renaissance technique known as “dead colours” these portraits enable us to look beyond skin colour and ethnicity. It debunks our preconceived notions of race and creed, thus enforcing that skin colour is actually totally irrelevant.
